Premium Meat, Specialty Cuts & Hand-Picked Finds

J. Morten’s is not a grocery-store meat counter. The shop is carefully sourced and built around better cuts, better flavor, and better help at the counter.

Because we deal in high-end rare products from around the world, our selection may vary slightly from time to time due to availability. Stop in or follow J. Morten’s on Instagram to see the latest Wagyu, pork, game meats, and new arrivals.

Australian Wagyu

Australian Wagyu brings deep marbling, big flavor, and a more flexible cooking style than Japanese A5. Great for steaks, grilling, and impressive dinners without going all-in on A5.

Frequently Asked Questions

Common questions about store and products.

Does J. Morten’s always have everything in stock or does it need to be ordered ahead of time?

We almost always have everything we typically carry in stock at all times.  There are always exceptions though.  Because we carry a large variety of high end items from around the world, some things can be subject to availability.  For larger orders or for special occasions or holidays, I would always recommend calling ahead to help us make sure we have everything you need.

For Christmas, I would always recommend it.  Ideally 2 weeks ahead of time, as that is by far our busiest time of the year.  That being said, we always try to have everything available at all times.  Ordering ahead helps us guarantee you’ll get exactly what you want and how much though, so for any larger orders, please call ahead.

Yes, of course.  We want you to feel comfortable with your purchase.  Simply put though, if you can cook a more typical steak, you will have no problem cooking Wagyu either.  We do have a few tips we would be happy to share with you depending on what cut and grade of steak you purchase.

Simply put, it is a better way to store and display our product. We receive beef and pork in primals, then cut steaks and chops on-site. After cutting, we vacuum package them right away for maximum freshness, then display and sell them directly to you. Learn more about why J. Morten’s vacuum packages its meat.

Please just give us a call or drop us a message on Instagram or Facebook. We don’t list product pricing on our website because we are a small retailer dealing in high end products with limited availability compared to mass produced prodcuts.  We do not have purchase guarantees with our suppliers, so we are subject to market pricing and product availability.  While we try and always carry the exact same cuts and grades, and change our pricing as little as possible, we are subject to market factors more than large retailers are.
